How to Make Rearranging Your Furniture a Breeze

Lifting and moving heavy objects can be a major pain, both literally and figuratively. There’s the hassle of trying to find the help to do the heavy lifting, and the possibility of someone suffering an injury from unsafe moving practices.

The possibility of injury or pulling a muscle, combined with the amount of time that is usually involved in such a project, can make coordinating the help you need difficult. Fortunately, there is a way that you can make the process faster, easier and safer while also reducing the amount of assistance that you will need to get the job done. Check out a few worthy tips below.

Use Casters

Swivel casters with lock are a great tool to make moving any heavy piece of furniture a breeze. These rotating wheels are attached to heavy objects to eliminate the need to manually lift it. The benefit of using casters is that once they are attached, you will have easy moving for the life of your furniture. A heavy filing cabinet or piano may seem impossible to shift to a different room of your home, but casters make it possible to easily glide across the floor surface to its new location by applying minimal force.

Casters can stay put once your object is safely in place. Simply engage the attached lock to prevent the object from being bumped or drifting across the floor. Unexpected movement could cause damage or injury and should be avoided.

Plan Ahead

Another way that you can minimize the trouble of rearranging the furniture in your home is to make a plan. Instead of moving the couch only to decide you may like it better somewhere else, visualize the new set up and create a map of where everything will go. This way you won’t accidentally run out of space and find yourself scrambling for ideas on how to fit everything in one room.

If you want to be especially thorough, you can even take pictures of all your furniture so you can easily arrange the pieces into different configurations in a miniature floor plan to find one that you like.

Lifting furniture or heavy appliances is never fun, but needs to be done on occasion. If you apply the suggested advice then your experience should be stress free and accomplished in little time. You’ll soon have the chore behind you and be able to relax and enjoy your space.
