Microchannel coils have an original and simple design. They are made of aluminum, which not only makes the product lightweight but also prevents galvanic corrosion. The refrigerant pipes are rectangular and designed to provide optimal heat transfer and thus provide a more compact and more energy-efficient cooling solution

The use of microchannel coils allows on average to reduce the area of the heat exchange surface by 55%, which, accordingly, leads to a decrease in both the weight and dimensions of the apparatus and to a decrease in its cost, as well as, in some cases, a decrease in the aerodynamic resistance of the heat exchange beam, which allows the use of fans with lower pressure and, accordingly, with a less powerful electric motor.

Tested, the Coefficient of Performance of a microchannel coils exchanger system under standard ARI A conditions is 13.1% higher than that of conventional air heat exchangers made of copper tubes with aluminum fins. The pressure loss in the refrigerant circuit is 65% lower (when tested for a traditional heat exchanger, the loss was 166 kPa, for microchannel – 57 kPa).

These results were obtained for a Kaltra microchannel coils exchanger, which is 8% smaller than the classical one in terms of area. The use of microchannel condensers in refrigeration units allows lowering the condensation temperature. A decrease in the condensing temperature at a constant evaporating temperature is accompanied by an increase in refrigeration capacity, a decrease in the effective compressor power.

Thus, the use of Kaltra microchannel coils exchangers as air condensers makes it possible to increase the energy efficiency of a refrigeration unit by reducing power consumption. The maximum effect from the influence of the imposed fields and natural oscillations of the medium occurs when the resonance effect is achieved. However, there is no data on methods for measuring resonance frequencies.
